Company’s Governance Capabilities Strengthened from a Financial Perspective with a focus on Business Growth [Inaugural Interview]
On March 31, 2022, WARPSPACE announced the election of two new directors, the creation of a new COO and Chief IP& Corporate Strategist, and the appointment of one each.
In this article, we will have four diverse members talk about their enthusiasm that could not be fully discussed in the press release. The second interviewee is Akiko Kitahara, who has been appointed CFO.

-Please tell us how you feel about your appointment to the board of directors.
I feel bracing myself.
In the 10 months since I joined WARPSPACE in 2021, I feel that the company is gradually moving to the next stage in its scale and operations. In the process, we have needed to expand our corporate functions and strengthen our management capabilities. I have spent my career in the financial industry for about 30 years, and I hope to contribute to the development and strengthening of the organizational structure based on my experience in a global company.
-From the perspective of the financial industry, how do you see the environment surrounding WARPSPACE today?
WARPSPACE’s stakeholders are not limited to the domestic market. Because of our global operations, we are inevitably affected by world affairs. In particular, logistics and supply chains may be directly affected, and such uncertainty may be considered a risk. However, we cannot put off taking on challenges just because they are unpredictable.
Fortunately, each member of WARPSPACE is a professional and flexible, and I am confident that we will be able to overcome the changes together with our resilient team.
It is precise because we are in an environment of heightened uncertainty that I would like to contribute to the company by steadily strengthening its governance and systems and increasing its corporate value.
I will also make it a point to sincerely communicate this situation to all of our stakeholders.
-Lastly, what are your aspirations as a director?
Having been involved in the space industry for about a year, there is much about the industry that I do not know, but I believe that I can be objective about some things.
I am now in a position to start working on the plan I had set out when I joined the company. Perhaps some might say, “It is still too early.”
Even so, I will continue to challenge the next step. And I believe that in the future, it will be communicated to you what we at WARPSPACE want to achieve and what kind of business we are going to engage in.
My daily work will remain almost the same, but from now on, as a director, I would like to grow together with the company with an even greater perspective on whether the company is moving in the right direction.
